im sorry but i cannot stop thinking about isha's pastel memories that play during her sacrifice scene.
look at how full of colour this beautiful fuckin shot is:
Tumblr media
it's been well established in episodes 4-6 how grim and dark the undercity has become under cait and ambessa's new rule. but look at how isha sees/remembers it - because of jinx.
jinx, who went through a severe childhood trauma that has carried over into her present self - she covers extremely destructive weapons and grenades in bright pinks and blues, neons, childlike doodles, graffiti. (joy and destruction, powder and jinx, a contrast so striking it becomes like a signature for her).
and then we see the world through isha's eyes. when we meet her in episode 2, she's running through sewers, from goons dressed in black; it's grimy and grim. and then all of her recent memories are done in these childlike pastel, almost crayon-y sketches. because what isha saw was jinx covering a dark and grim world in colours.
and so isha covered her world in colour, too.
because jinx made her world bright.
isha looked at jinx and saw the child in her. she saw powder and she saw jinx. she saw joy and destruction. and that's why jinx gave isha so much hope. isha knew the world was grim and dark - but then she watched jinx, and she learned that you can paint over all that grim darkness with neon blue spray paint.
that's why isha believed in hope. that's why in her final moments - in a scene that is lit dimly and dramatically - she sees nothing but a bright world coloured in pastels.
never underestimate the hope of a child.

it just hits me. TIMEBOMB. ekko rewinding TIME again and again to stop and save jinx from EXPLODING herself. arcane writers looked at their ship name and took it quite literally. they are so EVIL

People genuinely think Viktor, Jayce, and Jinx are dead???
I thought it was pretty clear that they either found an exit (Jinx, with Caitlyn looking at the plans and a blur of pink right before the explosions, then the scene with the airship) or they were transported to a different universe (Jayce and Viktor, cus weren’t they surrounded by the Hexcore thing at the end?? Like sure they could have just destroyed it but to me it looks like they were taken somewhere else)

I don't know if I ever made a post about it - it's likely something that stayed in the drafts cause I didn't know how to word it probably. But I suspected based on how Vi was hallucinating Vander and Powder like she did after the Sevika fights that she might share the same psychological and psychotic predisposition that Jinx did, but due to her different experiences didn't manifest the same way. Usually the kind of psych issues Jinx suffered from runs in the family, or the predisposition rather. Negative environmental factors triggers when and how they manifest. For Vi, it seems frequent beatings and neurological damage from them is leading her there. And seeing as Vi is seemingly hallucinating her loved ones berating at her and of Caitlyn in season 2, she is in it now.
(Drug use BTW, can trigger such psychological tendencies to hence why Jinx's hallucinations got bass boosted at the dinner party probably.)

Alright time for me to start my nonsense
(Possible) reasons why Jinx has cut her hair in s2
She doesn’t want to be a symbol for Zaun and all the art people have made of her feature her braids prominently so she chops them off
She doesn’t know how to braid her hair, Silco did it for her
Someone ELSE cuts it off her Flynn Rider style, why idk
Someone grabs her by her hair and she cuts it to escape
She cuts it off to let Jinx go and put her in the past (like letting go of Powder) after Ekko tells her moving forward means leaving things behind
And the worst most HEINOUS possibility I will fight the arcane writers for, SOMETHING happens to the mini Jinx and she cuts it off so her hair looks more like hers (I really hate this theory)

a brief and very unwarranted visual analysis of these two shots (and maybe this is all fairly obvious but let me have a second)
Caitlyn is looking down over Piltover and the “camera” focuses on her from a high angle. In traditional filmmaking, either combined or separately, these can be used to indicate that a character is a villain and/or that they feel or are weak. Despite this, it also indicates that Caitlyn is very powerful. She also takes up a lot of visual space in the shot but the vast middle/background combined with her dark uniform make her appear smaller in contrast to the cityscape around her.
Opposite to the way Caitlyn is framed, the “camera” angle for Vi is more in line what we’d see for a hero - a lower angle, looking up at them, making them look powerful. However, this is contrasted by the fact that she (lmao clearly) takes up very little visual space in the frame and is not the focal point at all. Even without dialogue it gives a very clear sense of how she feels. Vi blends into the background and is entirely overshadowed by the bright mural of her late father and Jinx.
interpret however you please
